Pumpkin Paint Night Ideas

A still-life canvas of three pumpkins beside real pumpkins

A pumpkin is an oval with lines. That is the whole drawing. Paint nights get stuck when people try to carve a face in paint. Skip the face unless someone asks, and even then keep it to two eyes and a smile.

One pumpkin

Paint an orange oval. Add a short thick stem in brown or green. Ribs are darker orange lines from the stem area down to the base, curved slightly. Five or six ribs are enough. A highlight on one side keeps it from looking like a flat circle.

White pumpkin

Same shape, painted cream, with pale grey ribs. It looks modern next to the orange one and it is a good second canvas if someone finishes early.

Three in a row

Small, medium, large, touching. One stem each. A simple ground line. This is the version for a fall birthday or a Halloween night that should stay friendly. Pair it with the fall tree guide if half the group wants something other than pumpkins.

Host your own paint night at The Imagination Hive in Milton, Ontario.
