Fall Paint Night Ideas

An autumn canvas of orange trees and a pumpkin on a studio easel

Fall is the easiest season for a paint night because the colours are already limited. Orange, yellow, brown, and a deep green or blue are enough. You do not need a harvest scene with a barn, a fence, and a wagon.

Autumn tree

Paint the sky first in a pale colour. The trunk is one vertical stroke, wider at the bottom. The leaves are dabs of orange and yellow, not individual leaves. A few dabs on the ground read as fallen leaves.

One maple leaf

Draw the leaf lightly with a brush in brown, then fill it. The veins are a thinner line in a darker orange. This is the same project as the single-leaf theme, in fall colours.

Pumpkin, kept simple

A pumpkin paint night has its own steps: one oval, vertical ribs, a short stem. Use it when the group wants the October picture. Use the tree when you want something calmer than Halloween.

Host your own paint night at The Imagination Hive in Milton, Ontario.
