Simple Cutting and Tracing Practice Sheets for 3 to 5 Year Olds

Safety scissors, a dotted cutting strip, and a tracing curve

Fine motor skill ideas for toddlers should be short. Cutting and tracing practice for preschool works when the page is large, the session is five minutes, and nobody has to finish.

Tracing for age 3

Use thick lines and one shape. A straight line, then a curve, then a number. Praise the try.

Tracing for ages 4 and 5

Add numbers 1 to 10 and the first letter of their name. Keep the pencil thick and the paper steady.

Cutting, when they are ready

Start by tearing paper. Then snip a strip. Then cut toward a drawn line. Safety scissors and an adult at the table are part of the activity, not a failure.

A page that costs less than a snack

A single fine motor sheet in the shop is about $0.50 to $3. The 1 to 10 tracing worksheet and the coloring pages are enough for a week of practice.
