Christmas Paint Night Ideas

A canvas of pine trees and round ornaments on a Christmas paint night easel

Christmas paint nights stall when the canvas becomes a village. Three pines, three ornaments, or a wreath are enough for a two-hour night and they still look like December.

Three pines

Each tree is a stack of triangles, smaller as they go up. A short brown rectangle is the trunk. Snow is a white dry-brush on the branch tips and along the ground. Paint the sky pale blue or deep green first.

Ornaments

Three circles hanging from one slightly curved line. Add a small cap on each circle and a highlight. Patterns inside the baubles can be stripes or dots. Stop at one pattern per ornament.

Wreath

A green ring, then red dots as berries, then a bow made of two triangles and two tails. The middle of the ring stays the background colour. That empty centre is what makes it a wreath.

If you want a quieter December canvas, use the winter birch guide instead. It feels seasonal without being a holiday card.
