Easy Crafts for 3-Year-Olds

Three-year-olds do best with big pieces, short steps, and a job they can finish themselves. Skip tiny beads and sharp scissors. Offer one material at a time, sit beside them, and treat the mess as part of the making. These easy crafts for 3-year-olds use crayons, stickers, torn paper, and chunky paint tools.
Sticker roads
Ages: 3. Time: 10 minutes.
You need: large paper, round stickers, chunky crayon.
- Tape the paper to the table so it stays still.
- Draw one wide road with a crayon.
- Let your child press stickers along the road.
- Stop when the road feels full. Three-year-olds often stop before adults would.
Peel the sticker halfway so small fingers can grab the edge.
Dot-marker rainbows
Ages: 3. Time: 10 minutes.
You need: dot markers or a cotton ball and washable paint, paper.
- Draw five big arches.
- Show one dot inside an arch.
- Hand over the marker and let them fill the arches.
- Name the colours as they work.
If paint is new, use one colour so the choice stays simple.
Torn-paper grass
Ages: 3. Time: 15 minutes.
You need: green paper, glue stick, a drawn flower.
- Draw a flower with a thick stem.
- Tear green paper into tufts. Tearing is easier than cutting at this age.
- Rub glue along the bottom of the page.
- Press the tufts on as grass.
Keep a damp cloth nearby. Glue sticks are enough. Skip liquid glue.
Contact-paper window
Ages: 3. Time: 15 minutes.
You need: clear contact paper, tissue squares, tape.
- Tape contact paper to a window, sticky side out.
- Offer tissue squares in a bowl.
- Let your child stick them on.
- Cover with a second sheet if you want to save it.
This is a standing craft, which helps children who do not want to sit.
