Spooky-Cute Mason Jar Ghost Lanterns: Step-by-Step

These ghosts look spooky from across the room and friendly up close. Use a battery tea light. Skip real flames in a kid project.

What you need

  • A clean jar
  • White tissue or a white paper napkin
  • A battery tea light
  • A black marker

Step 1

Drape the tissue over the jar so it hangs like a ghost. Tuck the extra inside the rim or tie it with twine.

Step 2

Draw two eyes and a small smile. Keep the marks small so the tissue does not tear.

Step 3

Turn on the tea light and set it inside. The glow is the whole effect.

Where to put them

A windowsill or the centre of a party table. They do not need to match.
