Couples Paint Night Ideas

Couples paint nights go wrong when one person is fast and the other is careful, and the project makes that obvious. A shared scene, painted on two canvases that sit together at the end, lets each person work at their own pace.
Split sunset
Both people paint the same sky bands. One canvas gets the sun, the other gets a tree or a reflection. Pushed together, they are one picture. Apart, each canvas still looks finished.
Galaxy pair
Same dark background, different nebula colours. A purple and a teal pair looks deliberate. The steps are in the galaxy guide: background, soft clouds, then stars with a dry brush or a fingertip.
Same flower, two palettes
Both paint a sunflower or a peony. One uses warm colours, one uses cool. You are not copying each other stroke for stroke. You are making a pair.
Sit side by side, not across the table, so you can see the canvases line up. Two hours is plenty. Leave the comparison talk until the end.
